Ribbon with a Cause

The challenge blog, Chocolate, Coffee and Cards this week are asking us to use a ribbon on our project. The difference is for the ribbon to represent a cause. I have chosen the ribbon for Autism Awareness, which not surprising is made up of the primary colours, in jigsaw shapes, which is why my ribbon is a free download from the internet. The slogan which goes with the ribbon is 'Together we can solve the puzzle'.
I tried to use mainly primary colours on my card in a mixed sort of way. I mixed contemporary with traditional. The centre panel and butterfly were stamped and embossed for a resist technique. Adding Distress colours after it was cool. The flowers on the oval were coloured with Promarkers.  My oldest grandson is autistic, we accept there will be no cure, but we pray for the puzzle to be solved for the future.

Game On at CD Sunday Challenge

This week at CD Sunday Challenge, our challenge for you is GAME ON - now you may initially think this is obvious, but when you take time to think there are many variations and uses of the word GAME, as you will see when you pop over to the blog. Remember to enter our challenge part or all of your entry must be related to the theme of the week. I look forward to visiting all of your entries to see which direction you have taken.
I am at a loss, I've had my computer cleansed of cookies etc, which is probably a coincidence, but if anyone can advice I greatly appreciate. When I click on Photo it no longer has Browse for me to go to My Pictures, for me to transport a picture of my card. I would appreciate any HELP! You can of course view my card on the main blog. I'm off to have a good weep and hope someone can help me with yet again another irritation.
PS Thanks for the wise words and phone call Christine, time has been the healer. once again Blogger has caused me to have a knee jerk reaction panic. Phew! hopefully back to normal.

Christmas In August

At My Time To Craft their current challenge is Christmas In August, there are actually 125 days till Christmas, still lots of time to get my Christmas cards made, but it helps along the way getting some made in advance, instead of the frantic rush leaving it short, as I often do. I attended a Ross Craft show locally recently and this card is the result of a few of my new stash.
I know, I don't do cute! Well I have to be honest and say, if I did, there is one stamp company I would be an ardent fan of and that is LOTV or otherwise known as Lily of the Valley. There stamps are wonderful. The backing papers are also from LOTV.  The stamp Joy is from Katy Sue Silhouette Stamps.

A winner

Many thanks to those at Crafty Cardmakers for choosing me as the winner for Challenge 71  which is (72) Olympic Spirit Card can be found here. http://www.cazroscraftycorner.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/olympic-spirt.html#comment-form
This is my award badge, I have posted it here because on my Layout page etc I seem to no longer have the Gadget icon to access to make changes in my side bar, - I do appreciate the free service of Blogger greatly, it has opened up my crafting and social world, but so many changes are not conducive to the greying cells of persons like me. If anyone knows where my Gadget icon sign has gone, please let me know.

Take Flight

The August challenge at Sir Stampalot is ............Take Flight............ . This card is made with one of my all time favourite stamps from Elusive Images now Chocolate Baroque. Firstly I stamped the butterfly area twice, and cut out the second butterfly, coloured it with distress inks, then added a little glitter to it.  I coloured the stamped image panel and the side panel with distress inks, then melted some gold Frantage in two areas of the main image. I stamped leaves on the background panel, added a ribbon and a greeting. I have just noticed it's not straight!!! Why do I do most of my crafting at night? Anyway I hope the guys and gals at Sir Stampalot like the card. thanks folks for the challenge.

Things With Wings

I had a much needed boost today when I saw a card I entered into a Steampunk Challenge at
That Craft Place was chosen to be in the Top 3, many thanks. Their current challenge is Things With Wings, a very wide choice but having recently purchased some Megaflakes from Indigo Blue, I've been playing with an old favourite stamp from Elusive Images, which has a butterfly as the focal point.
I coloured white card with several DI, stamped the image with Black ink. I sprinkled some gold Frantage and heated from below to melt and set. I re-stamped the butterfly using Flitterglue and and sprinkled Lancashire Rose Megaflakes over the butterfly area. The butterfly was attached to the main card with a little silicone glue on the thorax. Matted onto gold mirri. Tied with two pieces of gold ribbon.

Exotic Birds and Blooms

For this week at CD Sunday Challenges it was Christine's turn to choose the theme, she chose Exotic Birds and Blooms. The DT have created some wonderful cards to inspire you. Please pop over to the main blog to check out the rules and their fabulous cards. Remember, to be able to be judged to be in the Top 3 you must use something from a CD, anything from  a small element, up to all of the card, please let us know which CD/CDs you have used. I made my card using backing paper and 3 images from Joanna Sheen Oriental Dreams CD. I used Chloe's Small Poinsettia flower stamp to stamp out 6 flowers onto  coloured vellum, with Versamark, then embossed with gold E.P. I added 3 red jewels to each flower centre. The sentiment is from my stash. Have fun everyone. I greatly enjoy visiting your blogs for you all produce some amazing cards and I look forward to viewing your inspiring cards.

Olympic Spirit

Aren't the Olympics exciting, we can be rightly proud of all of our GB competitors, whether medal winners or not, they are giving their best and in some cases beyond their best. Go GB, we are proud of you. It is so nice to see Crafty Cardmakers back after their little break. Their first challenge is Olympic Spirit, and they are also having a DT call to boost their team. For my card, I stuck to red, white and blue which of course are not only  the colours of GB but several other countries too. The background Union flag and the bunting are from Debbie Moore Shabby Chic - London CD. The athletes discs are from a free source on the internet. I stamped Celebrate, London and 2012 with a word and  alphabet stamps. I edged the card and the discs with Distress Inks. I am also entering this card into several other appropriate challenges.

It's Bingo Time

This week at CD Sunday Challenges, it is Bingo time. Eyes down for a full line in any direction.

You have lots of scope to make a card using either a small part or everything from a CD, please pop over to the main blog for the design team have proven this in the various cards they have made. They are all so wonderful. It's bye bye to Claire our Guest designer for July, who has produced some excellent cards during her month with us. We would like to say a big Hello and Welcome to Michelle who will be our GD during August, have fun Michelle, your cards are always such a pleasure and inspirational. I again look forward to visiting you all to see your Bingo cards.
For my card I used the central line down, Pearls, a Sentiment and Ribbon.
All of the Paper elements are from the Paintbox Poppets from Crafter's Companion. I heat shrivelled the organza ribbon with my heat tool, be careful or it will shrivel into a tight ball. Now how do I know that?!! Have fun ladies (?gents).
