Travel Challenge

This is the second week for the theme of Travel at Try It On Tuesdays, this is a card I made for a recent class, which fits the theme very well. I used for the main image a stamp from Indigo Blu. The remaining stamps are from a mixture of sources, including Tandastamps for most of the travel ones. I created the background with several Distress Inks TH. Check out the faux brads - circles made with a Promarker, covered with a drop of Glossy Accents, an old trick but it may be a new tip for some.

A Cute Wedding

Yes, to my followers, I've gone cute again!! I'm really liking these cute bear stamps from Fizzy Moon - this one is called Wedding Bells. I made the card for the challenge Weddings at My Time To Craft I will also be adding to a few more challenges. I dry embossed the background, coloured the stamped image with Promarkers. I added the ribbon and flowers with diamonds in the centre to embellish. The flowers are made from a wonderful little stamp I recently purchased from http://www.dreamees.org.uk it is so easy to make the flowers. I think you'll be seeing a lot of them in various colours on my future cards.

I usually love to go to town with my backgrounds, but for this challenge, I decided to start off the year clean and fresh, not an original thought, as it turns out. It's amazing how many of my fellow team mates have had a similar idea, strange really, for most of us are 'messy' (inky) crafters.

I used a set of stamps from Kanban, a few coloured and plain gems, a Silver Sakura pen to highlight and TH Distress Ink Stormy sky. I look forward to visiting your blogs. Thanks for your continued support.



Anything Goes Week at TIOT

At this time of year, everyone is so busy, if you do have the luxury of being able to slip away and spend some creative time we at Try It On Tuesdays are giving you the opportunity to please yourself. We are asking for Anything Goes. Whatever you feel like making, last minute gifts or something for yourself. Why not pop over, for the design team have had a ball playing. Talking of balls, well baubles actually, these are three baubles I decorated from polystyrene foam balls which are relatively cheap. They are easy to make, but it does take  patience and time, though you can probably sit during your favourite TV programme and make a few.
I was shown how to make these a few years ago, by a wonderful lady. I think there may be instrucitions on You Tube, if not, and if I received any requests, I will for next year add the instructions to my Tutorial Blog.

Gift Tags Galore at try it on Tuesdays

This week is Tags week at Try it on Tuesdays , and of course being the time of the year it is we would like to see Gift Tags Galore. On my first one I stayed with the traditional green and reds and used a tree and reindeer stamp. On my second tag which I am also entering into Let It Snow at St. Luke's Charity Card Challenge  I used the snowman and snowflakes stamps. All the stamps are by Inkadinkado from various sets. All the inks are Ranger's Distress Inks. I do hope you will pop to both blogs and take a peek and even enter into the fun. I know we are all so busy, I'm late, but better near the end than missing it. have fun.

Peel offs!! @ Try It On Tuesdays

"It's Amazing What You Can Do with Peel-Offs!! You can't say we at Try It On Tuesdays aren't willing to try all aspects and techniques in paper crafting. This extra long peel off of a bunch of flowers has been adorned with a mixture of gilding flakes to add beautiful shimmers of golds and silver. I first stamped a Creative Expressions text stamp for the background, gold embossed it to highlight on the black background. Added pieces of a die cut and some very small butterflies helped to complete. As this tag is longer than normal, I think I will give it as a bookmark gift to a very good friend.  Why don't you hop over where this week we ask you to make a TAG, and to use Peel Offs. TIOT - Unusual Shaped Card

This week at Try It On Tuesdays it is a CARD WEEK, but the challenge this week is an unusual shaped card, anything except a normal square or rectangle card. Please pop over for the team have made some really interesting and different style cards. For my sample I turned to a reliable source of unusual cards - Anna Marie Designs - Templates Vol 1 (only one I have). I have found my younger grandchildren have had lots of fun receiving these animal /bird shaped cards. I used a stamp to provide a branch and the leaves are stamped too. Everything else has been made by cutting card according to the template. I find this form of card sculpting very relaxing. The google eyes have been adhered with silicone, they aren't going anywhere. Taking to the Skies

This week over at Try it On Tuesday we are asking you to Take to the Skies, as you will see the Design Team have varied ideas for the meaning of this, I wonder how many we will get in the challenge? I still havn't quite mastered by brayer, doesn't the marvellous Barbara Gray make it look easy?  I tore some copy paper to make the seperation between the sand and the sky, I then used some distress inks to cover both areas. I have used a mixture of stamps , all listed below. I look forward to visiting and commenting on your entries. good luck to everyone. Oh! Peace and Tranquility

We all seek Peace and Tranquility in different places, during the spring and summer for me, it is usually near the coast, but during autumn and winter, I love the trees and rivers. I am so fortunate for I live within a short distance to reach both. This week at Try It On Tuesdays, it is time for us to make a tag, to depict Peace and Tranquility. I was very lucky to have received a set of landscape stamps from a Do Craft friend Barry - his stamps company name being BarjanB. I can almost feel the cool air and hear the birds from this stamp. I used only a few Distress inks to create the scene, Tumbled Glass, Shabby Shutters and Broken China. I look forward to visiting your blogs to see what you see as being peaceful and tranquil. Minimal cards for TIOT

This week at Try It On Tuesday we are returning to making a card. The clean and simple style has become very popular, so we are challenging you to make a MINIMAL card. At a recent card class I run, we tackled one of the diffficult cards we all dread making, Sympathy and Thinking of You cards. From one dark green A4 (UK) card, here are two cards I made. They are the same in size and style, only the stamps are different. The first cArd I used for the background a fantastic background stamp from Anita's, it is so versatile. I used TH Distress ink Peeled Paint for all of the stamps used. The daisies are from Sheena Douglas. The second card, I created the background using a piece of Christmas Sequin waste, secured it to the card, then with a piece of cut and dry foam, I stencilled through to achieve the strip of stars.  the stamp is again a favourite of mine, the agapanthus which looks so calm and serene. i do hope you like my two samples. It's a Wonderful World

This weeek at Try It On Tuesday, we would like to see any crafted project which will fit to the the song title "It's A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. I made a tent folded card, which for me shows a sample of our beautiful countryside, of  which I never tire living in, the birds depicting the wild life, and the Love they share for one another, for Love is a Wonderful Thing.
I first used, Distress Inks, Mustard Seed, Peeled Paint and a little of Spiced Marmalade. I then sprayed with Cosmic Shimmers Mists, a light green and Golden Fish.
Stamps used are Eastern Grasses from Elusive Images, birds and branch Inkadinkado clear stamps 98849.

Old stamps -Tag at TIOT

Over at Try It On Tuesdays, this week we are asked to make a Tag, but the extra requirement is to use old stamps, the ones at the back of the cupboard or drawer. Those old faithful, but not used for ages stamps, we who have stamps will have a few (ummm) not used for ages. I pulled out one of the first See D's I bought which is the Victorian set, there were ideal for ATCs, my ealier passion. In addition I have also used a few of my peg stamps, which I adore, but don't use them as much as I used to, time for them to have a revival. The words 'wish' and 'wonder' are also oldies, on a rotating stamp from 7 Gypsies. Please pop over for it is amazing what the remainder of the DT have discovered in the back of their cupboards. Monochrome at TIOT

This week at Try It On Tuesdays, we are challenging you to make a Monochrome Card, I decided on making a pale blue card. I used a piece of blue parchment to mat a pieces from Tim Holtz's Shabby Chic stash pad, using dies I punched out the circle, butterfly and layers to make the flower, which is from the same paper.The fairy is a Lavinia stamp.  I added some sparkle to the fairy image and a few gems to the butterfly. Anything Goes at TIOT

As this is the 3rd Tuesday in the mont at Try It On Tuesday, it is time for us to create Anything we like, no theme, no requirements, the world is your oyster, so to speak. I need to catch up on my self made committment to Janet for her Poppy  Card Appeal so I took this opportunity and have made six of the bookmarks, featured above. I first coloured a sheet of card with Old Paper DI, then scrunched it up, to create lots of creases, smoothed it out, and brushed it with Vintage Photo DI to darken part of the card. I then stamped it with my favourite crackle stamp from Creative Expressions with black ink. I stamped the poppy in black, and embossed with clear powder. I used Mustard Seed, Barn Red, Fire Brick Red, Black Soot DIs and a dark green copic pen to colour in the poppies, leaves and stems. I look forward to see your creations over the next week. Tag week - Trees at TIOT

This being the Tag week over at Try It On Tuesdays, the theme is Trees. I decided on being rustic and grungy, the tag is sitting on a piece of torn and exposed cardboard, which I coloured with Walnut Stain. A hole punched though them both is tied up with garden twine. The actual tag, has was stamped and clear embossed with text, then I blended several toning colours of Distress inks, I then stamped a super large tree from Inkylicious, with a scattering of birds from the grass. When everything was dry. Out came a sheet of newspaper and I ironed over the tag, till the hot iron had removed the embossing , leaving behind a white text, going through all of the stamping, this is known, I believe as 'Batik stamping'. May I add, like any good crafter, this is the only iron, I've touched for over a week. Once again I look forward to visiting your blogs. There were some fabulous seaside cards last week. On the Beach

This week at Try It On Tuesdays, we would like to see anything connected to the beach, there are a few challenges around with the same title this week, so why not add our name to your list too. For my card, I decided to punch a 3" aperture, to allow us to see through to another scene.

Alter for a gift.

Hello again. This week at Try It On Tuesday, it is time again for us to alter something, to make a gift. One of my favourite items to alter is the very reasonably priced mirrors from the very large Swedish store. The first thing I did was covered the mirror with some black card to protect it. Next it was painted with some matt blackboard paint. I chose two poppy stamps from an Elusive images set, sorry lost the name of the set. I embossed the stamps using gold E.P. to give a more defined outline to work with. Talk about trial and tribulation, I tried various colouring mediums, but most just seamed to soak into the wood. I wanted to paint with Cosmic Shimmer watercolours but it soaked into the wood, I then tried some Acetate/Peel off markers, which worked a treat, then thought if they haven’t soaked in, maybe I can use the Cosmic shimmer watercolours on top of them and that’s what happened, it had provided a surface for the shimmer paint. I finally added a few black gems to the centre of 3 of the poppies. This mirror is to be donated to Janet, for her husband’s Poppy Appeal fund raising event which will be held in October, so it will be a gift. Steampunk at Try It On Tuesday

Steampunk! I’m not sure about this very popular genre in the stamping world at present. It seems to be even more popular than cute, so it can’t be too bad, can it? My OH likes it! So, I decided as the challenge this week at Try it On Tuesdays is to make anything in the Steampunk style, I have made a wall hanging for my OH, to be displayed on the wall above his computer area. This is only my second attempt, the first being an ATC which can be found in my labels at ATCs. I decided on a collage format as that seems is one artistic way of displaying as much as one can.

Flower Power at TIOT

This week at Try it on Tuesdays, it is the turn of Pat R to choose the topic, good choice for Pat would like us to make a CARD – the theme is FLOWER POWER. Please pop over to TIOT to see the rules and of the super prize once again offered by our sponsor this week One Stop Card Craft.
For my card, I played around and experimented. This is the first time I have created an aperture with Nestabilities with a corresponding frame on the front of the card. Neither of them fit perfectly but at least I have learnt why and hopefully will remember if I make one again. I adore Peg Tapestry stamps, I own far more than anyone needs, so have to occasionally find a reason to use them. I used Colour Box cat’s eyes chalk pads.

Alter a box

Time is going so quickly these days, we are already back to our Altering week at Try It On Tuesday which, of course if your the lucky winner of our challenge, which is to alter a box, you could be spending your prize of £15 at our sponsor's The Craft Barn.  I made this oragami box with T. H Vintage Shabby paper stash papers. I altered it later by adding an additional sheet on the lid of the box, punched a pretty pattern mid way  down on the lid, which doesn't show here. I then secured some white ribbon. From the same paper stash, I drew around the outside of a masking tape roll, for one flower, then on the inside of the same roll for the two smaller flowers. I then completed them using the spiral method, which you will find in my Papercraft Tutorial blog.  I then completed the box, ready waiting for me to add a gift, with a punched out round label, stamped 'With Love' and added a few swirls. I look forward to seeing your altered boxes, I'm sure there will be some amazing ideas.
