Off the Page Stamping


Good morning, thanks for popping by. 
Today at Back to Basics and Beyond we start
a new challenge #33 Off the Page Stamping.

I made a 5 x 7 scallop edge card.
The floral stamp and greeting I used - Woodware Stamps -
Perfect Petals. Coloured with Promarkers.

An Exploding Card


Good morning, thanks for your visit. Today we begin a new
challenge at Back to Basics and Beyond - #31 is
An Exploding Card.

I followed the instructions on the link, however, my
card is 5" sq, so I increased the size of the paper 
from 8" to 10".
I used papers from a previous scrapbook set of 
card and papers. 
It's amazing how easy this fold is, when you
 follow the simple instructions. Have fun.

Nail Polish Technique


Hello, thanks for visiting my blog, it is appreciated.
Today we have an exciting challenge beginning on
Have you tried the Shaving Foam technique? Well this is
the same but it gives amazing strong results.

I have had a fabulous time playing with this technique.
I paid a few pounds for the Nail polishes but it will not 
be wasted.  I will be buying more colours, for my next session.
Thank goodness for Poundland. Look at 
my results with watercolour card and photocopy paper. 

For my card I used a strip of the watercolour card and
die cut a circle from a piece of photocopy paper
Matted onto black card, the sentiment is by 
My Paper World.
I do hope you will give this technique a try.  It is 
stepping away from comfort zones, it did me, but 
I thoroughally enjoyed doing something different.

Triple Stamping

The challenge is # 29 Triple Stamping Technique

My card is a 6" sq (what's new there).  The stamp is
by Woodware - Cool Dude.
I used Pomarkers to colour. 
Black to mat each of the layers. 
'Cool Dude' was coloured with a glitter marker pen.

A Gate Fold Card

I used white card, Kraft card and papers from 
Craftwork Cards Meadow paper pad. 
Dies to create the front and inside labels. 
Gate fold is not seen much today, so why 
not have a go and do something different.

I have a 5" x 7" card. A double mat with 
black  and purple. 
I used a green, a purple and  mica green sprays.
the stamp by Inklicious was heat embossed.
White highlights added with a Gelli Roll pen.

For my card my 1 x Topper is a daffodil stamp

Coloured wuth Promarkers
My 2 x colours are green card and yellow paper,
both fom my stash. 
Embellishments - 3 x yellow jewels.
Sentiment - stamp by Hunkydory.

Shaker Card


Hello, thanks for your visit, I appreciate
the time you took to visit.  Today we begin a new challenge 
at Back to Basics and Beyond for the next two weeks.
we have #24 Shaker Card.
I would love for you to pop over to the blog for the few
details and of course to see the inspiration from the DT.
I recently went to a Stamparama show at Harrogate.
Even though the morning crowds were very busy, 
I had a marvellous day, I forced myself to buy loads of 
wonderful stamps, including the Bee Happy set from Hobby Art.
Inside my shaker are 3 stamped and fussy cut bees and 
a number of gold coloured gems/
I added glossy accents on the bee on the honeycomb.
If this is your first shaker card, enjoy, take your time, 
the results are such great fun.

The topper is a  CD print out - pulled from my stash.
Cotton lace and ribbon added. Sentiment and pearls from stash.

Pop up Box

Hello, thanks for your visit. Today at 
Back to Basics and Beyond we are challenging you 
to make for Challenge #22 a Pop Up Box.

The card I have above was first made in May 2014, 
this is when Pop Up Boxes first apperard on You Tube.
I am showing it as a revival of the time. 
The stamped image of the Doctor is Toby by 
Crafty Sentiments, the flowers are all from Sheena Douglass
Floral and Flower Power stamps. The papers are from a pack
made by Sweet Pea. The stars were produced with a
Fiskars punch. I am aiming to provide an up to date
version very soon.  Have fun, they are a lot easier than they look.

Paper Piecing + DT Call

Hello everyone, I hope you are well and keeping warm.
Today we begin a new challenge at a great blog -
#21 Paper Piecing

I made a 7" card. All the papers are from a LOTV paper pad, 
so sad they stopped making these for I love them all. 
The pad I used is a Nitwits Collection - Winter Wishes. 
The stamp is by Woodware Stamps - Cool Dude. 
If it's a technique you haven't tried or it's ages since you did
why not have some fun and interest in making 
something different?

Salt Technique


Hello everyone, I hope you are well. Thanks for your visit.
Today we begin a new challenge at Back to Basics and Beyond
Meg has chosen  Salt Technique --
Don't worry if this is a new technique or an old one
your not sure of, there is a direct link to a simple 
tutorial on You Tube, so no excuses for not having a go.

This is the Salt Technique - close up.
You can see where the salt has soaked up the colour, and
has left behind the pattern.
I made a 5x7 card. I used TH Distress Inks
Abandoned Coral, Twisted Citron and Fossilized Amber
Blended onto the card, followed the instructions as
mentioned above. 
Stamps used - Sentiment - My Paper World.
Butterflies - The Works
Poppy seed heads - Crafter's Companion - Fairy Magic. 
Pencils used to highlight areas on the poppy heads.
Why don't you go and try it , I guarentee it is fun.

Stamping &Colouring on Vellum

Hello, thanks for your visit. Today we begin a new challenge at
We hope you are learning a few new card making designs.
Our challenge for the next two weeks is
Stamping and colouring onto Vellum.
Please check out the blog and the inspirational cards
by the design team. 
I used a Honey Doo Crafts stamp - Floral Crest.
I used Versafine black ink on the front of the vellum, embossed
with clear embossing powder. I wish I had used Versamark and
white embossing powder for a more detailed and cleaner looking result,
 but hey that is for another day.
Flipped it over to the backside and used Promarkers to colour it.
Hope you have a go and enjoy the creation of your card.

Using A Sketch

Hello again,  last weekend we put our clocks back one hour,
we now have early dark evenings. I am so glad I recently
bought a Light Tent, I'm still trying to perfect the photos 
but I am getting much better photos now than I did 
before I bought it.
Today we begin a new challenge at 
We are introducing you to trying new techniques and 
this week it is how to  Use A Sketch

My card is a Kraft 7" scallop edge card.
The papers I used are all from a paper pad from The Range
Wild At Heart - First Edition - Trimcraft. 
The owl a stamp by Elusive Images (now Chocolate Baroque)
has been decoupaged with 3 layers, heat embossed,
the centre panel waterolours were used. 
The leaves are die cuts by usding dies from The Works

Stencils or Masks

Hello again, today we begin a new challenge at 
For those who may or not have tried using them , now is your chance.
#14 Stencils or Masks

For my card, I have used a 6" square scallop edge card.
Upon the slightly smaller layer I have partly inked through an
Imagination stencil with Mustard Seed and Wild Honey DI,
to create the background.
The stamp is Meadow Flowers from Woodware Stamps.
Coloured with Promarkers. 
Light blending around the edges with the Mustard Seed.
Black edges created with a black pen.

Watercolours

 For #13 Kate has chosen Watercolours

I made a 5 x 7 card. I made a mood board with 
Distress Oxides and a few small texture stamps.
The main stamp is Fairy Magic by Donna Ratcliffe
from Crafter's Companion. 
Watercoloured with Distress Oxide inks. 
The sentiment is by My Paper World.

Inky Backgrounds


Hello again,

We are interested to see your
Inky Backgrounds.

We still have open a DT Call, we need a few more to join us.
I used a mixture of Distress Inks by Ranger. These were 
blended , dried, water splashes added and then dried. 
The flower stamp is from Sparkles Garden.
 I decoupaged  the flowers which were coloured with Promarkers
 and Glitter pens by Sakura
Other stamps used are from Fairy Magic. Both sets
are by Crafters Companion.

For my card, I used a 5"sq. scallop edge card.
Gold mirri to mat the two pieces.
Christmas themed paper from my mountain of stash.
The main image is several layers stamped with an 
Imagination Crafts stamp - The Christmas Rose.
Each layer has been lifted with 3d dimensional pads.
Coloured with Promarkers and DI Wild Honey.
The greeting stamp from my stash.

An Aperture Card

Hello, today we begin a new challenge at
Back to Basics and Beyond, we are still a new blog, 
and would love to have you visit us.
Have you ever made an Aperture Card ?
This is our challenge, come on give it a try, or even renew 
the knowledge and skill you already have. 
The Design Team had fun with the challenge, take a look
at the fabulous creations they made. 
I have made another Christmas card, you can't have too many.
A white 6" sq. card, with a centre circle die cut. I then
embossed the card with a snowflakes E.F. then lightly brushed with blue ink.
Using the circle die cut I stamped an image by
Litttle Claire - Star of Wonder.
Coloured with Promarkers. Stuck onto a larger white circle onto
pale blue paper. Added a blue die cut seasonal greeting.
