A is for Apples

Here we are at Alphabet Challenges beginning another trip through the alphabet, with the letter A - , didn't we all learn our ABC beginning with A is for Apple?  This being the  fifth turn of the alphabet I was surprised to read this is the first time we have gone for A is for Apple. For my main image, the apples, I went back to an early stamp from Creative Expressions, drawn by Sheena Douglass. The script stamp  is from a See D set of Oriental flowers. The hessian butterfly is from Poundland. I coloured the background with Disress inks. The apples were coloured with Promarkers.

X is for X-periment

Happy New Year from Alphabet Challenge - here we are at letter X - Design Team member Jennifer has thought of a good one for you to play with ---    X-periment. The idea being for you to have a go at a technique, design, something you haven't done before. Have a good play session. For my DT project I have remained fairly simple. Using various blue tones in the Rangers DI range I direct stamped onto a square card. This in itself makes you take a deep breath hoping all goes well.  I used hedgerow plants from Stamps Away.  I have used the technique referred to as Shadow Stamping.
Using one of the same stamps used on the main card, I stamped using Versamark onto a prepared die cut mat, added white detail Embossing powder, heat embossed and cooled the image. Using the same cleaned stamp, I used Chipped Sapphire DI for the shadow, you hover over the white image and move slightly to the right and a touch up, when happy, slowly lower the block and stamp. With good luck and management you should have a perfect shadow stamped.  Why don't you give it a try? I look forward to see what you have X-perimented with.

F is for Feathers

Hi everyone, it's Friday, and we are up to the letter F at Alphabet Challenges, Avril has chosen for the challenge Feathers. At first you may think not a lot of choice, but the more I thought, there is a world of Feathers out there, loads of wonderful birds with their feathers, feathers adorning magnificent dresses, feathers in Indian countries, feathers decorating Dream Catchers, fishermen use feathers on their lines.
Sometime ago I purchased Sarah Hallum's first Zentangle CD which is amazing, I decided to simply go with an image of a Zentangled Feather, if you click to enlarge, the designs within the feather are amazing. I used a small feather stamp, free with a Craft Stamper magazine issue, for the background of the card.  I look forward to visiting you and thanks to those who took the time to visit my blog and for any comments left.

D is for Die-Cuts

Hello everyone, firstly let me apologise for the days's delay in posting my design card for Alphabet Challenges for the letter D which Marie chose DIE CUTS - A nice change for us to challenge you with.
My computer crashed on Monday, well it was 15 year old, and going very slow. New one was acquired fairly quickly and to stay I am struggling is a good way to describe it. Especially with pictures etc., hence my
lateness. Never mind, at last I'm here with my Die Cuts card. I used papers, die cut greeting and  die cut flowers from the Vogue collection from Craftwork Cards - and a Die cut birdcage. I hope you have fun playing with die cuts. If you don't have a machine or dies, don't worry none of mine above have been cut by me, all in a pack die cut and ready to go. Have fun everyone.

C is for Country Flowers

It's time for week C at Alphabet Challenges and Jennifer has chosen for us Country Flowers. At this time of the year we are all hoping to shortly be seeing the spring flowers in full bloom. There is nothing nicer than seeing the country flowers in our fields and waysides, no matter which country we live in. For my card ~~~
Plain white scalloped card.
Lemon and black card stock
Yellow ribbon
Greeting - from my stash
The stamp, yes, it's only one stamp, bought bargain price at a craft event, no info on it.
Mustard Seed DI patted onto an acrylic small block, sprayed with water, the ink
stamped onto a piece of card, dried with heat tool. Stamped with black Memento ink onto the piece of
card.  Such an easy yet effective technique. Experiment with different colours you can get some amazing results. Have you spotted just how straight my matting and layering is? I am so thrilled, for I just don't do straight, this was the first card I tried my new Perfect Layers rulers and they ARE perfect.

B - is for Buttons and Bows

Alphabet Challenges our challenge for the next two weeks was chosen by Shaz, she would like to see lots of Buttons and Bows for our letter B. I wonder why it isn't until you have up - loaded your picture onto your blog do you spot the buttons aren't straight. Well if you own't mind I'll forget it too. I used a pretty green DP from my stash for the background, a piece of pink lace, three pre-made ribbons with pearls. The saucy corset and stamp are from a Creative Expressions stamp set - Vintage Lingerie. I used Promarkers to colour the corset. Die is from Go Kreate , lightly coloured with Worn Lipstick DI. I look forward to seeing your Buttons and Bows, hoping you have lots of fun. Please pop over to the main blog for I am sure the array of Buttons and Bows will inspire you to have a go.

Always and Forever

Here at Alphabet Challenge we are starting from the beginning once more. For the letter A - Tammy has chosen Always and Forever.  I'm sure it is no coincidence that today is Valentine's Day. Hope you have all had a showering of love, flowers and chocolates. Ha! Ha! Do I hear you say, don't worry, I didn't either.
I decided to go for soft spring colours rather than the traditional reds and blacks, which didn't seem to be right for my young couple who are almost holding hands.
Plain white cardtsock
Background Papers from First Edition Daydream Pad
Stamp from Lily of the Valley
Flowers and leaves from stash
Card Candi and a metal heart charm from stash.
I look forward to visiting you over the next two weeks, have fun and best wishes for a happy
Valentine's Day.

Z - is for Zesty Colours

Well we have come to the end of the alphabet, letter Z - a brilliant idea from Pat is Zesty colours - e.g.
lime, orange, lemon. I have used card from a Boho Chic pad of Zesty spring colours, created a layout for them, onto which is a print out from a fabulous CD from Creative Crafting World in conjunction with Crafty Sentiments who have produced 'Here Come the Girls'. Embellishments are paper flowers and leaves, Card Candi - white  which I coloured orange with a Promarker. Greeting is a stamp and die from Go Kreate.
Hope you all have lots of fun, I think we all need some bright cheerful colours at present, especially with the dull dark days we are experiencing int he UK and the dreadful snowy conditions in many parts of the US.
Don't forget we'll be back in two weeks time to start back again for another year of the alphabet - beginning of course with the letter A - now I wonder what it will be?
