Use Shapes on your Card

Good morning, thanks for popping by. Today our 

new challenge starts on Make My Monday.

Dawn has chosen #104 Use Shapes on Your Card.

I have always enjoyed Inchies and Twinchies, so I

decided to go for (square) Inchies.

I created the background for the Inchies and the 

die cut word 'Sending' by blending 3 DIs - 

Twisterd Citron, Fossilized Amber and 

Abandoned Coral - amazing names.

The stamps are Birds Inchies by Inkadinkado.

A little glitter, why not? A black gem for the 'I' dot.

Take care, the UK's Autumn officially started 

yesterday and already there is a drop in temperature.

our new challenge begins  for the next two weeks -

I thought this would be a little different from a card.
I have recently made these six inchies for a swap. I coloured the
1 inch squares with several Distress Inks. Stamped and heat embossed
each of the stamps which are by Inkadinkado.

A Square World

Hello everyone, for the challenge this week at Make My Monday

we have for you to create 

A Square World

We would like your entry to be square and to think squares for your design.

For my card I have made a 5" square card, I used purple and white mats to

place the 9 x  1" squares using papers from Victoria Plum paper pad

by Craftwork Cards. Tied with a purple ribbon with a  knot bow.

I know, yes another Halloween card, well I do have 5 grandsons.

Paper is from Graphic 45 Rare Oddities, I adore these papers.

The inchies stamps are from Inkadinkado - Halloween set.

The spider, black card and black gems are from my stash.

Inchies for Autumn

We are continuing the theme of Autumn at Make My Monday, this week the subject is Inchies to show Flora and Fauna. There were some wonderful Autumn trees last week, so once again I am greatly looking forward to visiting your blogs.I used a varied number of autumnal colours in the TH Distress Inks range to colour the main card, I then stamped some acorns and sycamore 'helicopters', using a Memento Rich Cocoa ink.

Spotlight Inchies at Crafty Cardmaker's

Hi, I am one of the newer members of the D.T.at Crafty Cardmaker's. This week on the Spotlight blog is my first challenge choice, I have chosen Inchies - your project MUST HAVE AT LEAST 3 X INCHIES. Your first question may be, "What are inchies?" An inchie is either a piece of paper or card, you can use other materials but for beginner's I would advice the paper or card, which is cut or punched to measure 1" square. There are so many ways, techniques and designs which can be used. They can be a good area to start practicing some of the more advanced techniques. You can buy Inchie stamps, or use part of a larger stamp or even a large stamp to cover a number of inchies. Hero Arts have a good video to watch a project on You Tube, plus if you want to see more there are a number to watch on the same page here or Google Inchies. I have on my blog
3 cards with various numbers of inchies being used, check the labels below on the right side bar. The card above has been coloured with Distress inks, Tumbled Glass, Mustard Seed and Peeled Paint. I sprayed the background card with water to achieve the effect. The inchies I cut from a previously prepared masterboard, which if you want more info go to here, then matted onto 3cm squares. The bookmark below shows you can make more than cards, this is for one of my grandsons. I stamped and embossed with silver E.P. onto a grey card, matt and layered onto silver and black. The stamp is from Elusive Images.

Two or More Images

At ABC Challenges this week it is the letter T - Two Images or more is the challenge. I made this card using stamps from Aspects of Design - Across the Miles from The Stampman. I made a masterboard of different stamps with a coloured background using several TH distress inks. I am really enjoying these inchies too. Thanks for the challenge.

Size Matters! Just For Fun

This week Just for Fun's challenge is Size Matters, in the disguise of Inchies, which I just love they are so versatile. I made a square card, then again used the splash, splodge method to add distress inks colours being, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Tumbled Glass and Peeled Paint

onto a piece of card larger than an A5. The inchies stamps from Inkadinkado set 23 Birds and Butterflies, cut into inchies, matted onto 3m sq of navy card, adhered onto the main body of the card. I used Wild Honey to stamp the images and the sentiment from Inkylicious. Thanks for the challenge ladies.

Off Centre Challenge No 12

This week at Less Is More the required element is Off Centre. I have used a Crafty Individuals stamp, stamped onto 3 x 1" squares - inchies- then coloured with several Distress Inks. I added Thinking of you for I think this card lends itself to being a subdued card. I am so pleased Mandi and Chrissie are having such a huge success with their challenge blog.

New Challenge Blog

Crafty Individuals, one of my favourite stamping companies have created a blog, April is the first of their planned monthly challenges, they have begun with 'Simply Squares.' Now I do have a number of stamps but only a few are actually square, so thinking out of the square box, I have created a panel with the fabulous poppy stamp, cutting up the stamped image into as nigh as possible 6 squares. I added it to a square panel which is covered with the same colour inks using the splash it on the card, soaking ink up from your craft mat method, onto a resist background. I also used a resist method with the poppy panel. Crafty Individuals Poppy stamp

I am also entering the card into The Stampman Challenge which is Resist Technique.

Give us an inch x 3 please?

This week, at Try It On Tuesdays, it's time for our 'Wild Card' or even 'Wild Project', because it doesn't have to be a card, I jumped in to choose Inchies. We are trying to get both novices and experienced crafters to try or have another go at different techniques as the weeks pass by. Not everyone enjoys making inchies but for me they provide an interesting way to produce a different type of card, so please do have a go. Janet has said there will be a surprise prize for the winner, so good luck to everyone who joins in. To create my card, I first cut 9 x 1" squares of white mountboard. To reduce the brightness of the white I coloured 4 squares with Antique Linen and five squares with Old Paper. I then stuck them with temporary glue dispenser onto a piece of card, I stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black, heat set it. I then coloured the leaves with a green pencil. The flowers were coloured with Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Wild Honey, used as a watercolour. Later when dry I covered the petals with Glossy Accents to give the glazed effect. I used white glitter and a gold Sakura pen for the small additions on the pattern. The stamp used is from a Kay Carley Funky Flowers set available from the Stampman. When all was dry, I removed from the temporary position and seperated the tiles.
They were then placed on a black piece of card. Matted onto a piece of paper from my stash and a ribbon added. Hope you have fun with this month's technique, I look forward to visiting your blogs.
