Haberdashery

Hello, sending you best wishes for a happy new year ahead.
Today, at Cardz 4 Galz we have our first challenge for the new year,
Challenge #112 Haberdashery
Please pop over for any details and to see the inspiration created
by the design team.
It's ages since I made a tag. Always handy when you're not needing a card,
but want to try out some colouring or stamps. Of course you
can always add the tag to a card at a later date.
I started by blending Stormy Sky, Peeled Paint and Mustard Seed.
Edged around with Iced Spruce, splashed water onto the tag, dried with
paper tissue, then the heat gun.
Stamped the Dress form with Antique Dress Form by Creative Expressions.
Added background details with stamps by  Crafty Inspirations Set  #CI 328.
Finally adding the piece of lace, ribbon and button.

Tag It!

For the next week at My Time To Craft we would like to see a tag, the challenge being 'Tag It!'. It must be a loose tag or tags, not to be attached to a greetings card. Tags are a wonderful way to experiment with techniques, they can be a very personal gift tag, or something to make just for the fun of it, example of this being above, though I wull be adding it to a gift this Christmas. I used paper from Papermania 'Twelve Days of Christmas' paper pad, the reindeer was given a new life, it once existed on an old ATC. A die cut added, at last I have used some Washi tape which I have had for over a year ( he he ) The small greetings tags are from LOTV - stamp set. have fun making your tag.

L is for Lace at Alphabet Challenges

For the next two weeks at Alphabet Challenges it is the turn for Team B and Avril has chosen for the letter L - Lace, a wonderful choice. This is an ideal opportunity to think of soft, feminine,  romantic, may I even suggest, sexy? This is what Lace conquers up in my mind, what about you? I have recently taken part in a new tag swap where we are going to be challenged to different techniques each month. We are starting with simple yet effective Black stamping. Producing the coloured textured background was my start. I blended Stormy sky, Peeled Paint and Mustard Seed. Edged around with Iced Spruce, sprayed water into my palm, threw on large blots of water, dried it quickly with a paper tissue, then used the heat gun. When completely dry, I first stamped the dress form from Creative Expressions - Antique Dress forms, masked the dress form, then stamped accessories from a Crafty Inspirations Set  #CI 328. Finally adding the piece of lace, ribbon and button. I do hope my partner will like her first tag in the swap. I am now looking forward to visiting you to see your lacy projects. Some of you may realise I have been missing for a while, this has been due to my husband being ill, but he is fully on the road to a good recovery, following heart surgery, I am so thrilled to be back to as much a normal life as normal is for me.

Resist Technique on Tag Week

This week over on Try It On Tuesday, it is the turn for us to make a TAG. The additional requirement we would like to see is a Resisit Technique. I first stamped on the tag with a music stamp, though I admit it doesn't show too well, maybe not suitable as a resist. I heat embossed then covered the tag with TH Broken China, then edged it with TH Chipped Sapphire. I stamped each of the additional elements direct to paper with the Chipped Sapphire, then cut each one out and glued to the tag, I again edged each with the dark blue. I completed the tag, adding a gold die cut, two buttons to the top and bottom and some blue shaded fibre and garden twine. Stamps used are from the Papermania Urban collection.
This week is a tinge of saddness, for this is my last entry to Try it On Tuesdays, as a Design Team member, I have spent a month or two short of two years, have greatly enjoyed the experience, I have learnt many new crafting techniques and wish everyone  continued success.
Other challenge blogs I am entering this into are:-
Make It Monday Anything Goes
Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamping Anything new
Anything Goes at Anything Goes
Gingersnap Creations GC133-use a Set or Line of Stamps

Seasonal Tag at MMM

Our challenge for the next two weeks is for a Seasonal Tag at Make My Monday.  It will be our last challenge for 2011, for we are having a week's break over Christmas.  The DT have made a fabulous collection of tags, please pop over to see them all. We have an exciting programme ahead for 2012, we are so looking forward to the future challenges. It would be nice if you made a New Year resolution to tune in to us each week to check out our challenges. For my Seasonal Tag I stayed in my comfort zone, stamping. I used a piece of plain white card, Mediterranean Blue Brilliance ink pad,  a favourite Santa of mine, a snowflake stamp, a Happy Christmas greeting and of course some glitter. Matted onto a silver holographic card. I'm not sure whether it shows on the pic, I added some Glossy Accents to his glasses. Have fun, I look forward to visiting you over the next few weeks. I would like at this time to wish each and everyone of you who have supported us at Make My Monday since we started, and to those who have joined us along the way, a very Happy Christmas or if more appropriate Happy Holidays.

Old stamps -Tag at TIOT

Over at Try It On Tuesdays, this week we are asked to make a Tag, but the extra requirement is to use old stamps, the ones at the back of the cupboard or drawer. Those old faithful, but not used for ages stamps, we who have stamps will have a few (ummm) not used for ages. I pulled out one of the first See D's I bought which is the Victorian set, there were ideal for ATCs, my ealier passion. In addition I have also used a few of my peg stamps, which I adore, but don't use them as much as I used to, time for them to have a revival. The words 'wish' and 'wonder' are also oldies, on a rotating stamp from 7 Gypsies. Please pop over for it is amazing what the remainder of the DT have discovered in the back of their cupboards. Thanks for visiting.

Tag week - Trees at TIOT

This being the Tag week over at Try It On Tuesdays, the theme is Trees. I decided on being rustic and grungy, the tag is sitting on a piece of torn and exposed cardboard, which I coloured with Walnut Stain. A hole punched though them both is tied up with garden twine. The actual tag, has was stamped and clear embossed with text, then I blended several toning colours of Distress inks, I then stamped a super large tree from Inkylicious, with a scattering of birds from the grass. When everything was dry. Out came a sheet of newspaper and I ironed over the tag, till the hot iron had removed the embossing , leaving behind a white text, going through all of the stamping, this is known, I believe as 'Batik stamping'. May I add, like any good crafter, this is the only iron, I've touched for over a week. Once again I look forward to visiting your blogs. There were some fabulous seaside cards last week. Please pop over to our blog where the design team have produced some wonderful tree tags. have fun and thanks for visiting my blog.

Red, Black and Cream Tag

Over at Try It On Tuesdays Emma has chosen for our tag this week, a colour palette of Red, Black and Cream. It is her birthday this week so she is kindly offering a super prize for the chosen winner. Pop over to see the terrific samples from the team and read the message from Emma. I have recently made two bookmarks for my grandsons, using the dragon stamp, like most crafters it was still lying on my desk, which directed me to the design of my tag. I stamped onto cream card, added Creative Expressions EP Tropic Red Blaze, the background is a clear stamp with Japanese writing. I look forward to visiting your blogs to see your tags. International Woman's Day -March 8th

Wishing all ladies a happy International Woman's Day. At Try it on Tuesdays, it is our week to make a TAG, we are celebrating at Ilkado's suggestion, a special day for Women. All details are on the blog, please pop here, to see some fabulous examples from the design team.
I started with an Inklylicious silk card, using a brush. I added Old Paper to the lower section and Victorian Velvet to the upper section. I stamped the La Blanche ladie's head with Walnut Stain, masked the lady, then stamped again with Walnut Stain the words for the background. I stamped a few feminine objects, then stamped some swirls which I embossed with gold E.P. Added the lace and flower, ribbons and lace to tie the tag, I found a button with a shank which I pushed through the thread hole, secured with a little glue. I then matted it all onto a darker pink card to add some dimension. I am looking forward to seeing your tags, for this special day for Women.
Also entering this tag, with fibres, lace, and a fabric flower into the 'Fabric' challenge at Crafty Cardmakers.
