Code Word is Flower

For the next two weeks at Addicted to CAS (Clean and Simple) the Code Word was my choice.
I chose FLOWER, everyone loves flowers, so we are expecting to see a beautiful array of flowers over the next two weeks.
Our thanks to our wonderful sponsors.
I like to experiment, make a mess and play with my craft stash, this card is the result of a play session. Speaking to newbies rather than those experienced crafters, many times when you know what you want to achieve but it just doesn't happen, please don't despair. The card above was the fourth attempt for me.
I added water to my two chosen colours of H2Os though any mica pigment medium would work as well.
I added the paints directly onto the stamp, from La Blanche, sprayed water onto it, to give a watercolour effect. I then stamped it directly onto the card, this is the second generation stamping. (I stamped it twice). first on copy paper them onto the card. Please do have a go sometime, enjoy playing. We are all looking forward to seeing your CAS Flower projects.

Addicted to CAS - Friend

The Code word this week at Addicted to CAS  chosen by Natasha is FRIEND -
I added inside my card this lovely greeting.

We are being sponsored this week by

I recently bought this vintage stamp from Crafty Individuals, I stamped it with Vintage Photo and with a damp brush dragged out some colour. I trimmed the outer edge, then matted it onto brown, cream and again brown card. The topper was then placed onto a cream sheet of card embossed with an EmBossibilities from Spellbinders, which is matted again onto the brown card.  We all need friends and friends need us at different times in our lives, this card will suit for most occasions. Please do pop over to the main blog where you will find wonderful creations from the DT, I look forward to visiting you. Thanks to those who have popped onto my blog, it's always nice to say Hi to any visitors.

Addicted to CAS - Spring

Addicted to CAS this week appropriately for the time of the year, in the UK,  our word is SPRING -

 our sponsors this week are
It is such a shame that despite the calendar telling us it is now Spring, the weather in the UK is still delivering us winter weather, with snow, extreme cold, wind, heavy rains. We at home are still feeding the birds, we've just put up another small bird feeder with seeds. Oh! when will it be spring?
Back to my card. For me yellow, and pale green represent the beginning of spring, hence my choice for my Spring card. the matted image onto yellow is from only one stamp, which I love, one of my bargains. I bought this wooden stamp for £2 only, sadly the maker's name has been scribbled over. To apply the separate colours of ink, I rely on every day sticky tape. I tape the outer two images, add ink to the centre, remove the outer two tapes, add the different colours to each edge, huff and puff and stamp. I know this sounds elementary, but it took me a few bad stampings before I thought of it, so hope it may help someone else. Have fun with your CAS of Spring, and long may your Spring arrive in the UK.

CAS - Wings

For the next two weeks at Addicted to CAS Florence will be hosting her challenge for WINGS - you have such a wide area to choose from wings.  For this challenge we are being sponsored by

For my card having decided on my colour choices, I matted a piece of blue card onto a white square folded card, next I added a white square of card. I punched out a 3" circle with a punch, or a die could be used. I then blended Salty Ocean and Mowed Lawn TH Distress Inks to form the sky and grass. Sprayed with water,  after a few seconds dabbed with a dry wet wipe, which creates the dispersion of the ink. I used a leaf tapestry peg stamp in two colours to form the leaves and a flower tapestry peg stamp in two colours to create the flowers. The bird from Inkidinkado is stamped with Tuxedo Black from Memento. The flying birds are from a set by Inkylicious - Trees. The circle was added with 3-D stickers to the main card. i love the effects we can achieve with Distress Inks. I look forward to visiting your entries, I am sure we will see many CAS variations of WINGS.  Above all enjoy crafting.

Addicted to CAS - Code Word is......

For the next two weeks at Addicted to CAS (Clean and Simple)  we are challenging you making a project which is Masculine - anything which you feel fits the Male world. Considering my darling OH enjoys a good bottle of red wine, this is the kind of card he would appreciate, especially if it had a voucher inside for said bottle of wine. The stamp is from Sheena Douglass - Provence. I coloured it with Distress Inks used as watercolours. To get the white light on the grapes I first used a white Sakura gel pen, let it dry, then added the watercolour ink. Have fun, I so enjoy visiting your sites to see your creations.

The Code Word ..... is CANDY

 Our sponsor this week is

For the next two weeks, which will include Valentine's Day, we at Addicted To CAS are challenging you to make a CAS project using the  Code Word = CANDY. The Design Team are well scattered over our small world, we realise some words have different meanings in different countries. I do know that sweets and chocolates in the UK are referred to as being Candy in the U.S.A., so whichever country your in we do hope you will take part. My CAS card is simply a piece of brown ribbon and a bow, with a Valentine flavoured greeting .... you melt my heart.... the chocolates and the greeting are free downloads from a brilliant site where there are many free downloads. You will need to look for there are several to do with chocolate, I advice you look in the January and February entries for 2011 at  http://crafticious.blogspot.co.uk/  I covered my cut outs with Glossy Accents but the beautiful dark chocolate turned a little green, I am pretending this is a marzipan or lime chocolate. Yum yum. Have fun everyone, please remember it is to be Clean and Simple.

A New Code Word at Addicted to CAS

Addicted to CAS are back, this being our first challenge for 2013, we hold these fortnightly. The word is
EMBOSSING -You can do either dry or heat embossing it is your choice.
We are so pleased to be sponsored by

with a wonderful prize for our winner of the challenge. Please pop over to the blog to see more details.

For my CAS - Clean and simple card, I decided to use a Cuttlebug embossing folder. Owls are so cute and can be used for various occasions. I used an orange sheet of Core-dinations, once embossed I sanded  the  embossed area which gives it the lighter colour. I then mounted it onto a C6 card (approx 6 x 4") and tied a black ribbon across the top. The greeting is one of those lucky pick ups from a reduced box.  I am looking forward to visiting and commenting on your embossed cards over the next two weeks. Thanks to those who have visited me and for any comments left which are always appreciated. Welcome to my newest follower, it is always heart warming to see another face appear in my list of followers.

Addicted to CAS - # 1 SNOW

At long last, this week sees the start of a new two weekly challenge - ADDICTED TO CAS.  We are a sister challenge group to ADDICTED TO STAMPS AND MORE. One of the design team will choose a one word topic for each challenge and to get us started  the site's owner Kylie has chosen

We are thrilled to be sponsored by

who will give a prize of $20.00 (Australian) to the winner of the challenge.
Please pop over to our challenge blog to check out the rules and to see the fabulous creations involving snow from the design team.

Here is my card
I was inspired by Barbara Grey to make this card. I cut the strip to size and adhered it when it was completed, I wasn't brave enough to go direct to the card. The sky, mountain line was created by inking onto the edge of torn paper, at the front I stamped the log cabin and trees and the tall trees to the right side of the card.  I used a Quickie glue pen to create the marks on the mountains, then added Crystal glamour Dust. The embossing lines were added after the strip was adhered.
Stamps used. Scenescape Log Cabin and trees.
Greeting Peace on Earth - From stash source unknown
Embossed lines = Keepsake board.
I look forward to visiting you over the next two weeks, please check on our blog before entering your card, we don't have many rules but obviously we do need to be fair, so need a few. Have fun.
